Superpose

Designed by Flavien Champenois and David Allanic, Superpose is a light pattern-building card game from SBG Editions and Studio Twin Games. It takes 2-6 players and plays in around 20-30 minutes. It's a game where you score for creating and adding to groups of orthogonally adjacent squares containing your colour/animal icon.

Tho' the term 'superpose' is used to describe a four-square grouping or 'zone', the game takes its name from the fact that players are layering - superimposing - their cards on top of those already in play: to play a card, it has to overlap at least one square on a card below it and at least one square must cover a square with an identical icon.

Most players will focus solely on the vibrant colours of the squares but SBG Editions and Studio Twin Games have expressly produced Superpose to be Colourblind Friendly. Players with any degree of colour blindness can still play the game because they can focus on the different animal icons instead of the colours.

The English rules aren't as clear as they could be but once you've grokked them then Superpose is an easy-to-play family-friendly game. It comes with a simplified setup for new players and you can step up the difficulty level by incorporating cards with flower icons. These follow the special rule that flowers can never be overlayed. The game offers further variant options and it's playable too as a team game, so it's a versatile package.
