Designed by Alena Istif, Oh My Pigeons! is a light family and children's game from Ravensburger. It's essentially a card game but it comes with a pack of plastic pigeons and it's the pigeons that the cards affect. You start off with a hand of three cards and three pigeons perched on your park bench player board. Your park bench has room for nine pigeons (10 in a two-player game) and the game is a race between the 2-5 players to be the first to fill their bench.
The deck includes cards that let you take pigeons from the supply and cards that let you steal pigeons from other players. There are cards that chase pigeons off from other players' benches and there are cards that let you swap benches with an opponent who is doing better than you. Oh, and then there are the Oh My Pigeons! cards... These let you roll the custom six-sided die. Two sides will give you pigeons from the supply (3 or 5), two will let you steal pigeons from other players (2 or 4), and two let you flick the die at an opponent's bench. Any pigeons dislodged from your opponent's bench are lost to the supply.
That's the game. It's a daft but fun 'take that' game, with the dice-flicking dexterity element adding to the mayhem and to the game's appeal and helping to differentiate it from similar 'take that' card games like Exploding Kittens. It's a game that adults won't mind playing with their children, and it's a game children will happily play among themselves. You can expect plays to run to around 10-15 minutes. The rules suggest Oh My Pigeons! is for children aged 8 and above but younger children can certainly play the game just so long as they can cope with the text on the cards and they are old enough to be trusted not to put the choking-hazard pigeons in their mouths.
